DVD Players
Recognizing the physical disc
- Some older players can only read the original 'stamped' commercial DVDs. Check the documentation provided with your DVD player.
Recognizing the logical parameters
- Some older players cannot recognize all types of recordable DVDs.
-
Roxio's software can accommodate to these situations by setting the parameters in the header of a DVD disc to make it announce itself as a
DVD-Video format and be accepted.
Recognizing the application parameters
-
At Roxio we make sure our software does a great job of helping you create DVDs that both meet the DVD specification (www.dvdforum.org)
and simply play as reliably in as many DVD players as possible.
Player brand and model number matters
-
As important as the format and brand of recordable media. Some players support only some types of media, and even between model numbers with
the same brand there is inconsistency in compatibility. Not all recordable discs exhibit the same properties. Some brands have a higher degree of
compatibility with some DVD players. You may need to experiment with different brands to find the one most compatible with your DVD player.
However things are getting better
- Since 2001, year on year, DVD players exhibit greater and greater compatibility with all media types.
