Applying Audio Unit Effects

Audio enthusiast power feature! Toast 8 allows you to apply up to 3 audio unit effects to each track in an audio CD project. Remember, all audio effects available in Toast are non-destructive and your original files will never be modified.

  1. Launch Toast and click on Audio --> Audio CD
  2. Add your tracks to the project area by dragging them from the Finder or using the Media Browser.
  3. Click on the AU icon in the Effects column of the track of your choice.
  4. You'll be presented with a Sound Effects window:

    • Track - Choose the track to which you'd like to apply an effect.
    • Effect - Select the effect you'd like to apply to the selected track.
    • Enabled Checkbox - This enables the effect you have selected. Unchecking this option disables the effect but remembers your settings so that you can enable the affect later with one click.
    • Effect Number - You can apply up to 3 effects per track. Effects are applied in order starting with 1. Clicking on number 2 or 3 lets you apply additional effects to the selected track.

  5. Select your track
  6. Select the effect you will apply.
  7. Modify any settings for the selected effect.
  8. To apply an additional effect to this track, click on Effect Number 2 (or number 3) and repeat steps 6 and 7.
  9. Once you’ve applied all of your effects, close this window.
  10. The AU icon for each track will have green text if an effect has been applied.
  11. Burn your audio project.
POWER USER TIP To quickly remove all effects that you’ve applied to a project, select Clear Sound Effects from the Disc menu.
